Based upon my experience I can tell you guys a few tips if you are thinking about pursuing your M.B.A.program. MBA is not just about specializing in one thing, an MBA must be prepared for everything and he/she should have a knowledge about everything around them not necessarily everything about all the fields but a little of everything is expected to known from an MBA.
You should not pursue MBA just for the sake of getting the PG Degree there are few things which you should do before starting the MBA,while doing the MBA and after the MBA program and they are -
- First of all fix your Goal as to what you want to do and where you see yourself after 5 years i.e, Working in which company, which Sector you wanted to go. And for the Entrepreneurs what they wanna do if they have any business idea.
- Get the working experience of 'atleast' 6 Months or 1 Year before joining the Institute.Experience really comes in handy for all the MBAs.
- Regardless of the Fees Structure of the Institutes always choose the Best ones only, don't settle for the lower level institutes even if you have to wait for a year or two, because not only your knowledge but the name of the Institute from where you are pursuing the MBA also matters.
- If you already have a habit of Reading and writing then it's great but if not then it's time you develop it.You should start reading the Business Newspapers,Magazines,Journals. Start watching the Business News Channels you should know about the corporates listed in the indices such as BSE and NSE.
- This one is for Indian Students- Never read Indian Author's Text Books.
- Take part in the Competitions,Contests as much as possible they come in real handy when it comes to increasing the weight age of your Resume/CV.
- Do the research works and Paper presentations, conferences and seminars as much as possible with the guidance of your institute's faculties. those really make you a real MBA.
- Go to the Live-Projects of various companies whenever you get the opportunity and trust me you really will get plenty of it.
- For the Summer Internship Training don't pick a time-pass kind of company always pick one company which is well known, reputed and which will make you work otherwise there are many companies which just hand over the certificate to you without making you learn anything about the corporates.
- Now something about your classes. you have to fulfill the attendance norms of the university which is 75% almost everywhere. make a good relationship with the faculties/teachers because they not only increase your attendance in your time of need but they also give you plenty of Teacher's Assessment marks. :-D
Well I do hope this one would be a helpful one for anyone who is thinking about pursuing MBA. All the best.
